Deckerd understood the motivation behind the move, a properly trained Brave Police team with a leader who had experience under their proverbial belt was preferable to a totally inexperienced team that would need to muddle their way through their work based on the preprogrammed training files.That knowledge didn’t do much to reduce the feeling of dread that was building in the back of the Brave Detective’s Super AI. After a few days of discussions back and forth a decision had been reached that the Japanese Brave Police would take on training the future leader of a new division. It was at that time that Commissioner Saejima walked in the door.By some miracle, Deckerd was able to conceal the feeling of trepidation that struck him on hearing what the Commissioner had to say.
For the first hour or so it seemed to be working and Deckerd was starting to feel better about the whole thing. “To not do it.” He responded before scuttling off.Deckerd shook his head and walked to his desk and got down to work, hoping that he would be able to bury the previous night’s nightmare under a safe pile of paperwork. He didn’t really snap back to the present until he walked in the office door and narrowly managed to dodge a flying soccer ball.“Drill Boy, what were you told about playing soccer in the office?”Drill Boy sheepishly retrieved his ball from the hallway. Deckerd shuddered.***The next morning Deckerd dropped Yuuta off at school and drove to the station nearly on automatic, his mind somewhere else totally. It had just been a bad dream.Still, he couldn’t shake the oppressive feeling that the events of that dream were on their way to becoming reality. He let a quiet if unsteady sigh escape his vents as he willed his racing systems to calm. He was still parked in the carport at Yuuta’s house.
2Deckerd woke with a start, engine revving to full in a fraction of a second.The police car quickly scanned the area, relaxing as he recognized his surroundings.
